Skateboard
For this project, we had to design a skateboard using two colors only. We used an abstract pattern. I chose orange and blue to show a contrast in colors and make the design stand out.
One-point Perspective Drawing: My Room
First of all, this picture is sideways because I wanted to be able to capture the whole thing. We did this project to practice depth and perspective, using one-point perspective. I used different graphite pencils for shading and highlighting. I used my room as the inspiration. Though I'm happy with the way it turned out, I wish I had had more contrast in the picture.
Color Wheel
We did this project to pratice mixing paint colors. I had never painted before. We used tempra paints in red, blue, yellow, black, and white to make the wheel. The wheel demonstrates primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Four of the strips on the side show tints (adding white) and shades (adding black).
Black and White Profile
I drew another picture of my brother to pratice shading. Again, I used graphite pencils and a paper towel for smudging. This time I chose a photo of his profile. In this potrait, I used darker shading to show contrast and give his figure more dimension.
Black and White Potrait
I drew this potrait of my brother from a photo I took of him in Hawaii. I used graphite pencils and a paper towel for smudging. I focused on shading in this project to make the picture more realistic. However, if I got the chance to draw it again, I would have used darker shading to show deeper contrast and emphasize where the light was hitting his body.
