Block Print and Collage
I made this ballerina block print by carving out the background to create a stamp. Though I think I achieved good balance on the block with the words and the ballerina, I am a bit disappointed with this piece. Sometimes, I wasn't able to carve away enough so that ink got on the background. The collage, on the other hand, I was really happy with. I like how on the surface it seems really messing, but the repetition of the print in different colors and balance makes it art-worthy. I only have the picture of the block, but when we get our projects back I will put the collage up too!
Book Pages
This was one of my favorite projects. We started with book pages and circled our favorite words to form a poetic sentence. Then we painted any image that demonstrated the meaning of the words. I experienced with texture in the black one by tearing the edges and using mixed media. I also experimented with texture in the message in a bottle page by using glitter. I used emphasis by drawing the bottle as the largest part. My favorite book page is the largest one that says first impression. I had a lot of fun making that collage and spatter painting.
2-Point house
For this project, we had to create a building using two point perspective. I drew mine in a tornado, with a Wizard of Oz theme. I used a monochrome color scheme, which means I only used red with different amounts of black and white for contrast. I was sort of happy with this project, however I wish that I would have incorporated better shading techniques to make it more realistic. Unfortunately, I don't have the picture right now because its in the library, but I will soon!
